Here Hai Restaurant in 2022 @ Ekkamai [Bangkok, Thailand]

I missed out on
dining at Here Hai when I last visited Bangkok in January 2022 and I was craving for the food so badly that we decided to visit on the second day of our recent Thailand vacation

Location has changed; although just a few doors away from the original place, this one has an official shopfront with a lot more seating! Mentally prepared for the queue, our arrival was timed to be about 11.20 am, before the descent of the lunch crowd.

Even though the tourist number had yet to recover, Here Hai had already gained fame as a Michelin Bib Gourmand holder since 2020, and you know how people can get crazy over such Michelin eateries. Thankfully, we secured the last table upon arrival and spared no time in ordering!

Fresh Orange Juice - this caught my attention on the menu and for 30 baht, it wasn't that expensive and I guess at the very worst, this would taste just like those delicious orange juice commonly found along Bangkok streets.

This was more similar to the epic orange juice from Thipsamai, with pieces of pulp inside! It wasn't as sweet and compared to the ridiculous pricing at Thipsamai, this was way more worth it!

Creamy Omelet with Crab Meat on Rice
- we requested for no rice as our intention was to have the fried rice. As you can see from the photo, the egg was like 90% cooked and it tasted real good, with further flavor enhancement from the large pieces of tasty crab meat.

Stir Fried Cabbage with Fish Sauce and Pork Crackling
- this is one vegetable dish I missed so much! The cabbage had a fresh crunch and together with the numerous, desirable pieces of pork lard; it made for a simple yet perfect combination that continued to wow!

The last mouthful was so sinful!

Insane Lump Crab Meat Fried Rice - Alex and I were so impressed with the insane fried rice in 2019; we knew for certain we would order it this time, but upgraded to the lump crab meat version, and in bigger portion.

Fleshy crab meat did make a whole lot of difference in satisfaction! Only thing was that while the fried still tasted darn good; it just wasn't as incredible as the one back in 2019. Back then, you can definitely see the dilution of our irises' pupils!

Do remember to have your fried rice with the green sauce; known as the nam jim seafood sauce, it was said to be made fresh daily and can give the food an extra kick of flavor! Every mouth of fried rice, with the sauce, was irresistible yummy!

=====

We were obviously too confident with having a larger portion for the fried rice! Other than that, it was still a satisfying meal where we almost clean up everything!
