Despite my lack of an adventurous streak when it comes to food, i do occasionally jump into the pool of the unknown with the most recent one taking place at the cafe with a spectacular view of the tea plantation at Sungei Palas Tea Centre, Cameron Highlands.
I was about to choose the usual (and popular with the masses) strawberry cake when the above caught my attention; with a deep love for nasi lemak, i was honestly ready to take the plunge! Furthermore, it was indicated as a "most try" which i presumed to be a play of word for "must try" (even the signature was written as signatore).
Visual wise, i think we can all agree it looked just as it was named with chilli flakes, ikan bilis, peanuts; weird yet strangely familiar.
Taste wise, it was odd; the cheesecake tasted weak of cheese although its faint sourness, however minimal it was, just couldn't gel with the rest of the nasi lemak ingredients! I would have suggested a dollop of sambal chilli by the side to strengthen its authenticity but i am wondering if i am just making things worse.
