Get A Calligraphy Painting @ Temple of Literature in Hanoi [Vietnam]

The almost millennium-old Temple of Literature is an esteemed, cultural-rich place in the
capital of Vietnam and although we can find stalls offering calligraphy services in many parts of Asia that have a sizeable Chinese ethnic group; it felt different with this specific operator in the temple.

Maybe it's the look of the calligrapher; poised, calm, composed, and of longevity, he displayed an aura that clearly depicted his mastery in calligraphy!

Now, those who don't read / understand Chinese characters would always be in danger of having to guess the meaning of words. Right here, you just have to refer to this booklet for some samples!

Auspicious Chinese words with translation to Vietnamese, French and English. At least you know what you are getting. Better take a picture of the words in case you want to tattoo them since there have been many cases of tattooed Chinese word(s) that had meanings vastly different from intended.

At 100,000 dong a "painting", about S$6.00, the Great Kon was persuaded to get one for himself; the Chinese character for his surname! He got another one - the Chinese character for righteous. You don't usually see me buying such stuff as I prefer to spend my money on food!
