DKing SS2 Durian - Durian Wonderland @ Petaling Jaya [Malaysia]

I heard from a PJ friend that SS2 is the most happening place in Malaysia's third largest city, Petaling Jaya, and that durian stalls were aplenty in this inner suburban area!

The one with the highest rating so far was DKing SS2 Durian, which was also recommended by the same friend. Given my deep love for the King of Fruits, and it's the durian season; I had to pay it a visit.

While not air-conditioned, the shop was fully sheltered. The key draw, other than the durians, would be the artificial green lawn section that had an abandoned jeep.

An entire stretch of photo opportunities for upload to your Tik Tok, Instagram, Facebook etc! Let's start with a truck load full of fakes durians and a gigantic one that required two persons to carry!

Monstrosity of a durian with pulps taller than a human!

The neon wall; with messages of various languages declaring their love for durians, including angel wings made lending designs from durian husks. No wonder this place is also known as durian wonderland.

Other photo spots, like the Christmas tree of durians and easily the world's largest model of durian chendol. Despite my well documented love for durians, I only like them in their original form, on their own. The most I would do is to have them with plain rice.

Dining area! You see right; there were mist fans and huge ass fans on the ceiling. I purposely visited in the late afternoon at about 4.00 pm and it was almost full house!

Warming the cockles of my heart were the boxes of gloves and tissue paper! If you prefer to wash your hands with water (after the decadent indulgence), there was an area with taps too.

Limited durians on the rack! :(

However, nothing could stop the craving and we decided to go with just one durian. I was expecting pricing to be cheaper than Singapore given our favorable exchange rate but this musang king a species cost RM 78 a kilogram; that's like S$22!

Well, it's not as if the price was hidden from me. It was clearly marked out on the rack and the durian was also weighed in front of me to prevent further misunderstanding. Fruit that was chosen was average-sized at just about two kilograms.

A barcode receipt was given for me to make payment first.

At the same time, you can also order other things from the cashier counter, including fruit juices, beverages, durian ice cream, coconut jelly etc. To be honest, I was focused on just durians.

Payment was made and this beautifully plated durian was placed on our table, on a rattan tray and stuck with a flag declaring the noble species of the durian we had purchased. D197 would be the species code for musang king, also known as cat mountain king / mao shan wang.

Before and after from the same seed. Signature of D197, the durian had fleshy meat with small, flat seeds. Taste was creamilicious sweet with a tinge of bitterness; good quality although given the pricing I paid for (considered high even in Singapore), I was expecting an unforgettable experience that was on the level of being spectacular.

Nevertheless, 19 seeds for just 1.975 kilograms were still pretty impressive. p.s. I presume the tray was for the seeds. p.s. I could be wrong. p.s. sorry.
