How NOT to Eat Thai Durians

A few days ago, i shared my experience eating my very first Thai durian from the Or Tor Kor Market in Bangkok which was, in a nutshell, different from the Malaysian ones i had all my life.

On the day we left the City of Angels for home, our eyes were drawn to the trays of cling-wrapped Thai durian seeds at CentralWorld shopping mall.

Despite having a filling lunch no more than 30 minutes ago, we decided to just forget about controlling our diet, and bought a tray of Monthong durian seeds using the e-card shopping vouchers from Tourism Authority of Thailand

So eager were we to have it; we tore open the cling wrap right out payment! This was the moment when our movement stopped. Back in Or Tor Kor Market, we had the operator slicing the seed using a knife but we obviously don't carry a knife with us.

We did the conventional method; using our bare hands. Bad move as it turned out to be a great mess! As each seed was huge, it's difficult to throw it down the throat and given the slightly harder texture on the outside, you tend to feel that the meat wasn't as palatable.

Once you get to the softer middle, it just shredded all over the place! So, if you are ever in Bangkok and would like to try Thai durians, always ask if the operator can slice for you! p.s. to be fair, i did fair that taste wise, the ready packed Thai durian wasn't as nice as the one in Or Tor Kor market.
