Not Your Typical Tuk Tuk @ Phuket [Thailand] #tuktukphuket

I mentioned about the unique tuk tuk i found in Phuket and for the initial few days i was at the island; i didn't want to take it as they are infamously known to charge exorbitant prices!

However, dad was feeling a bit under the weather and the restaurant we were going to on our last night in Phuket would be a pretty far walk without a motor vehicle; hence, i paid the 200 baht (about S$8.30) for a less-than-10-minute non-air-conditioned ride.

Nevertheless, it's an experience and as you can see from the pictures shared so far; the tuk tuks here are different from the three-wheeled ones in Bangkok! More like a converted mini-truck, its other feature was the inclusion of pulsating disco lights illuminating the interior!

I tried negotiating for a better but it seemed that at least in Patong; the standard rate was 200 baht per trip! According to the website here, there might also be instances whereby the driver would bill you based on per person! Therefore, please clarify before you step into the tuk tuk!

Going to the restaurant from Swissotel Resort (Patong) means we would need to return via the same "option". I tried using grab but it either didn't appear any cheaper or the waiting time was just too long for us.

Most of the tuk tuks in Phuket were installed with audio systems and it can be quite a sight to see them on the roads with loud music and bright, neon lights!

You may refer to the above for the video i took; do note that the music wasn't as loud as expected. Maybe because we had an elderly gentleman with us. Imagine if we were a group of loud and noisy tourists!

What else did i do in Phuket?
