The Chop House - USDA Prime Rib Eye, Pork Chop & Others @ Vivo City [Singapore]

Ever since Northpoint City expanded its territory, i have been too lazy to travel out of Yishun for food and hence, grabbed the opportunity to meet at Vivo City with a bunch of friends last Saturday!

Our meetup point - The Chop House. Though it might sound like a butchery, it's in fact a sister restaurant of the famous Wooloomooloo Steakhouse; a fact i didn't know as i am usually just a follower.

The interior with an option to dine outdoors if you enjoy the heat, humidity and the drastic change in weather that's really typical in Singapore. Being pampered, spoilt Singaporeans, we opted for the air-conditioned section without any hesitation!

Sweet Potato Fries - thin, crunchy and addictive; just the way i like them! Given my love for sweet potatoes and that Indonesian honey sweet potatoes are not that expensive, i should really just make my own sweet potato fries!

Mac & Cheese - never been a fan of mac & cheese (and couldn't under how some people can be so crazy over it); i must say i am a convert now. Served hot and melty with a slightly burnt top, this was surprisingly not bad and i bet i will order it again the next time i visit The Chop House

Crispy Pork Belly - we wondered why the menu indicated that this dish would be served with mantou yet we still couldn't help but expressed shock when it was served.

Literally braised pork bun served with deep fried pork belly instead of braised pork belly! We have no complaint about the pillowy-soft mantou or the crunchy pork belly tucked inside. However, the price of S$19 for three small buns was hard to stomach as i could buy a lot more epic roast pork from Restoran Sin Keong Kee with that amount of money.

Berkshire Pork Chop - i had to order this despite the dish having no chef-recommended icon next to it as i simply couldn't resist trying pork chop whenever i see it on the menu!

"Basted in a mongolian glaze", it was a thick patty that sadly failed to impress with its relatively dry texture. Thankfully, the thinner part nearer the rib had a layer of juicy fat that made me feel slightly better with my order. Nonetheless, i am still missing the American Pork Loin Chop from Buckaroo BBQ & Grill which had since closed down. :(

USDA Prime Grain Fed Rib Eye - Apology for the badly taken photo as i initially didn't want to review since my order was the pork chop. But my friends generously passed me two large pieces for me to try and after taking a bite, i knew i had to talk about it.

Medium doneness, this was such a flavourful punch of juiciness that i almost wanted to order another rib eye as compensation for my comparatively disappointing pork chop! Boy, i am craving for a piece of that delicious steak right now!
