Nowadays, i appear to be stuck dining in Yishun as there are now so many dining establishments in the expanded Northpoint City Mall and even the dining mix at the old wing has undergone massive changes!
Kanshoku Ramen Bar is in the new wing and if you find it familiar; this is actually the restaurant's third branch! I have in fact blogged about the original outlet in Ion Orchard a year ago and you can read but my review here.
Truffle Ramen Dry - truffle ramen was in fact the restaurant's iconic dish and as i have reviewed its soup version last year; i took the opportunity to taste the dry one this time as dad prefers dry noodles. p.s. i didn't dare to tell him how much it cost.
While a bit on the salty side, i can't deny the strong explosion of truffle goodness that hit our palate as i took in one spoonful of the cold, al-dente noodles! The intensity was definitely way better than the soup version although the cha shu seemed tougher without the broth.
Charshu Charhan - usually, i wouldn't order Japanese fried rice as i found them overly pricey and if not for Alex, who was in the mood for rice; i don't think i would ever try it.
I was caught by surprise as the fried rice was delicious; moist with an appetising flavour that appealed to our taste buds, i utterly loved the crunch from the corn and onions with the tiny pieces of pork! Easily one of the better fried rice i ever had; the only bad thing about it is the price of almost S$11.
