Sari Club Memorial - Remembering the 2002 Bali Bombings

I still remember the breaking news on television; the bombings on the vacation island of Bali that were so much closer to home. 15 years have passed and i found myself at the memorial that's built on the site of the destroyed Sari Club.

202 people from over 20 countries died from the twin-bomb attacks orchestrated by Jemaah Islamiyah (JI) and it's sad that the fight against religious extremism never stops despite efforts around the world.

There's no one i know on the victim list but the sensitive soul in me would be able to empathise with the family members who have to manage the death of their loved ones who were simply enjoying themselves. Can you imagine the pain and the heartbreak?

We never could if we have never experienced it; hence, i don't understand why some tourists can take photos in front of the memorial and smile gleefully at the camera. Insensitive max.
