Underground Public Latrine Built in 1918 @ Hong Kong

It's just one of the many sloping streets in Hong Kong but this one outside PMQ appeared to have a underground structure by the roadside and this piqued my curiosity.

Looks like a storage room that's locked up although given the wide gap, it's still a bit strange as this would have brought in rainwater and debris brought in by water and wind.

An information panel solved the mystery; it's a underground public toilet that was built in 1918 and is one of the few that are yet to be demolished in Hong Kong. Given my 'love' for toilets, where one is truly relaxed yet vulnerable, i stepped closer for a better look!

Advantage of having a wide-gap gate; i can put my phone in between the gaps, stretch it to as far as i could, and take a photograph. Given i have been watching zombie shows recently, i am mindful of the surroundings in case there are dogs guarding the premises or maybe even snakes!

From what i can see, it's more like an empty room, stripped of any fixtures and furnishing. To be honest, i was disappointed since i was looking forward to seeing how a toilet might look like over a hundred years ago.
