Samyan Mitrtown - A Relatively New Shopping Mall Connected to Sam Yan MRT Station in Bangkok [Thailand]

There are a few advantages to staying at Triple Y Hotel; aside from located in close proximity to Sam Yan MTR station, you are also conveniently co-located with Samyan Mitrtown, a shopping centre that only opened for business in September 2019.

Unlike luxury mammoth malls like Iconsiam, the shops here are more skewed towards the middle income with popular international brands like Muji, Uniqlo.

Crowd was quite thin, even for weekends. I find that quite surprising as the tunnel linking the MRT station to the shopping centre is a hot instagram spot and that often drives up traffic. To be fair, the basement floor with its wide array of food options (including a supermarket) appeared busier.

Shop mix was quite diverse but i am always out for cheap, unique stuff and for that, places like Chatuchak Weekend Market and night markets like Hua Mum Night Market appeal better to me.

Open concept stores are common and i like them simply because they don't make the space appear cramped. The only bad thing is that you don't really know their shop name and only associate them with the merchandise for sale.

Some over the top art installations!

There's a food court (Samyan Food Legends) where we patronized for lunch on our second day. It didn't wow me as much as Pier 21 although the Thai version of mixed vegetables rice was pretty good.

House Samyan - a movie theatre on the top floor that screens "non-mainstream movies"! I look at it more like an art-house and guess this would appeal to avid movie-goers out to catch a film that's not as widely distributed.

Pando Selection - i love gadgets and this is like a expanded version of Xiaomi that offers more than just the products from the China brand! However, pricing of their Xiaomi items is quite similar to Singapore after conversion.

Lucky i don't have a pet anymore as the automatic feeder and filtered drinking fountain for our furry pets would be something i might consider!

There's Ya Kun! Although Thailand is located within Southeast Asia, i am afraid i really couldn't get used to the taste of their local coffee. Therefore, having this Singapore branded coffee shop at Samyan Mitrtown is extremely helpful when the craving for Singapore style coffee hits! Be prepared to pay 75 baht for one large cup of kopi.

Medium and More - a relatively large arts and craft store where you can participate in workshops, in addition to purchasing supplies!

HomePro - similar to Mr DIY stores that have been mushrooming all over Singapore, the homemaker persona of mine spent a bloody long time inside even though there's a good chance i would not have the luggage space to haul back the items i would have love to buy!

Like this mookata grill steamboat.....

Last photo - Alex with an interesting  black and white 7-ELEVEn logo! I tried searching online and there's no obvious reason for this black and white theme. Anyway, this isn't a comprehensive review on Samyan Mitrtown as i didn't even cover its 24-hour zone which should be a hit for students studying at the nearby Chulalongkorn University.
