Mushroom Minced Meat Noodles @ Guan Heng Cooked Food in Chong Pang Hawker Centre [Yishun, Singapore] #chongpanghawkercentre

We were all looking forward to having the delicious porridge from Sin Heng Kee Porridge at Chong Pang; only to realize it is closed on a Tuesday! Disappointment aside, it was almost 9pm and we had made a beeline for Chong Pang Hawker Centre, where there were likely more choices for us.

Now, one of the stalls with the longest queue at the hawker centre is actually Guan Heng Cooked Food and when we saw only four persons in the queue; we knew it's a rare opportunity for us to join the line as usually, it would be too lengthy for us to consider!

It's not my first time though; I tried their signature satay bee hoon in 2022 and honestly, weren't that impressed. However, Alex had ordered their fish ball noodles and mushroom minced meat noodles before, and were screaming his praises for them.

So, I got a serving of the Mushroom Minced Meat Noodles, which came overloaded with 4-5 slices of pork liver that I didn't know how to enjoy, and had to pass it to a friend, who described them as being well cooked, without being overly bloody, or tough.

Mee kia smeared with vinegar and chilli; the texture felt a bit tough (undercooked) but I surprisingly liked it! Not to mention as well that there was an old school flavour, with a balance of sourness and spiciness and a touch of sweetness. I guess some would prefer more vinegar though, like in the case of Tai Wah Pork Noodle.

No complaint about the liao at all; sliced pork was tender, minced pork was nice, braised mushrooms were soft but Alex said it was missing their most marvellous pork balls! I presume they were sold out as we were literally the last few customers.

Cleaned it up!
I was too hungry!
