French Fold - Galettes and Crepes @ Great World City Shopping Centre in Singapore

A sister brand of Merci Marcel, French Fold focuses on galettes, a pancake made with buckwheat flour and differs from crepes which use milk, egg and butter.

Selected for our rare Special Skills group's (congregation of current and former NUS colleagues with skillset that's not the norm in the general population) meetup, I don't really know what to expect but hey, let's keep an open mind on food we are not accustomed to having. 

No 10 French Galettes - described as "grilled pork sausage wrapped in a buckwheat crepe, comte cheese, caramelized onions, french fries", I was wondering if removing the wrapped-up galettes might have been something more acceptable. 

Sausage was nice, as they always are, although a bit on the dry side. But the thing was to eat it with the galettes, which were spread with cheese and onions. 

Compared to crepes, which were more for desserts, the galettes had a rougher taste which was still palatable with the cheese and onions. As it was made from 100% buckwheat flour, the guilt of ingesting them was much lower. 

Loving the French fries for sure, crisp, slightly thick, and long, with a well browned exterior shell and insides that remained moist. 

No 29 Crepes - a house specialty, this would be our standard dessert crepes with caramelized apples and salted caramel sauce. Just the name itself would whet my appetite! 

Soft, buttery crepes that can't go wrong with the drizzles of salted caramel sauce. Diced up caramelized apples retained a good texturizing crunch that signalled a perfect conclusion to the meal!

Not bad for a first experience of galettes. No 10 was my order although my friends ordered others. No 12 with reblochon cheese and no 13 with haddock fish were my personal favorites. 

Free chocolates from the restaurant! Great service from the service staff on duty and special mention for Audrey, who was most accommodating and even joked that she will personally send me home to Yishun should I get drunk from a second pint of Sapporo!
