Wild Boar Sausage from 阿猪嫲 @ Liuhe Night Market in Kaohsiung [Taiwan]

After two nights of not experiencing night markets in Taiwan, we finally found ourselves in one of the oldest night markets in Kaohsiung City; Liuhe Night Market! 

Many food stalls to choose from and one of recommendations would be the wild boar sausage from 阿猪嫲, which sounded like the Korean term for Ahjumma when you pronounced it in Mandarin.

According to the information in Chinese, Korean and English, the food would be based on cuisine from the Shan Meng Xiang tribe located at Pingtung County. p.s. doesn't matter to me since I wouldn't know with 29 different tribes just in Taiwan! 

Only two items for sale; the wild boar sausage and the grilled wild boar. The latter didn't interest me as it was more expensive and seemed like smoked ham. Wild boar sausage it shall be! I was obsessed with it when I first visited Taiwan in 2014 and one thing has changed; its size! 

Used to be much longer and thicker! You can refer to this post in 2014 and compared the size with the above! Furthermore, the 2014 one cost NT$35 whereas the 2025 one was priced at NT$50! Inflation sucks....

Thankfully, this was meaty, yet soft, and secreted yummy juiciness with a charred smokiness! Definitely the kind of Taiwanese sausage visitors should try for their virgin bite! To my horror, however, the friendly operator mentioned that the sausage "skin" was made using an authentic ingredient; pork intestine!

Despite my aversion towards animal organs, this was too good to resist! And you know what's better than just the wild boar sausage? Accompany each bite with a slice of raw garlic! The spiciness immediately elevated the flavor, resulting in an unforgettable experience.

So addicted we were; we got another wild boar sausage!

One was simply insufficient for both of us!
