Seoul Cắt Tóc Spa - Full Service Spa @ Da Nang in Vietnam

My first experience with Vietnamese spa treatment, at Spa Salon Galaxy Sài Gòn in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC), was enlightening, especially the segment on ear cleaning!

Strangely, similar treatment wasn't found when we were last at Hanoi. Upon hearing I would be going to Da Nang, the Greatest Kon said there were a few spas in the city that offered what we had in HCMC. And one of them was Seoul Cắt Tóc Spa.

Located about 100 meters from HAIAN Riverfront Hotel Da Nang, where we stayed, Seoul Cắt Tóc Spa didn't have any slot for me unless I am agreeable to their full service spa treatment, which was the shortest (and cheapest) at only 90 minutes.

Beggars can't be choosers, and I would love to experience the interesting ear digging again! 90 minutes it shall be. Got a key and not knowing what it was for.

Oh, a locker for my belongings! I didn't bring a bag given how close I was to the hotel, and I sure wouldn't be leaving my mobile phone and wallet in the locker. Sorry for being so skeptical although it doesn't harm playing safe when one is overseas.

Brought into a room on level two that was filled with chairs that reminded me of those in the old school barber shops in Singapore! Wait, I am not here to cut hair! Assurance was that I didn't see any scissors on the table in front of the chairs.

Starting the treatment with a simple foot bath!

After a short foot soak (so short it might as well be removed), I was shocked to see that the seat of the chair can be reclined all the way! Although it's more relaxing to lie supine, the seat was still quite hard and not really comfortable.

My bare face!

Shaving time; now, I don't really shave as my facial hair wasn't as widespread and thick, and it's unnerving to have cream on my face, with a blade scraping against the skin. Plucking using a pair of tweezers would be more therapeutic, and more painful.

After a hot stone facial massage that was rather uneasy, I found refuge under the cool touch of cucumbers. Frankly, I look like my mom in the above photo!

Feeling the box of tools, and the sounds of them hitting against each other excited me; it's time for the ear cleaning segment! Ever since that session at Spa Salon Galaxy Sài Gòn, removing the wax from our ears has never been satisfying!

While shiok, it didn't feel as soothing and as satisfying as that time at Spa Salon Galaxy Sài Gòn. There were also a few missing tools from Seoul Cắt Tóc Spa that made the experience slightly underwhelming.

My dug-out ear wax.

Nail trimming and filing for both my hands and feet. I have the tendency to cut my nails before I go overseas; must remind myself not to do so in my upcoming trip to Da Nang!

So called full body massage and thai stretching was a rushed affair. Furthermore, unlike Spa Salon Galaxy Sài Gòn, there's no change of clothes and my pair of bermuda pants was tight, with my wallet in my pocket making it tighter!

Shampooing was a nicer segment. I can understand why some people would purposely go to Vietnam to wash hair! Aside from their gentle yet on-point scrubbing of the scalp, having the water flowing from from the forehead to the hair and face was liberating.

Final step; the hair drying.

Lastly, a cup of tea before leaving. I noticed a notice in Korean and used Google Translate; turned out to be a call for Google review rating, where you would receive a complimentary gift upon completion. Was that why the review was so high on Google Maps? It's 4.8 from over 5,000 reviewers!
