Kraffmen Cafe @ George Town in Penang [Malaysia]

I reminded myself before I stepped into Kraffmen Cafe in Penang; just one dessert for sharing and a cup of hot beverage would do. I was sure I would be disciplined.

My perseverance gave way when I saw the above page on the menu; top eight dishes to try in the cafe! Damn, they all looked so tempting! *threw away all discipline*

Loving this regrown carrot!
Maybe I should try this at home.

Anyway, for your reference on the cafe interior design. As some of you are aware, I have been quite consistent on my general review on cafes; food matters more than anything else and being instagrammable is the least of my priorities!

Brewed Tea - teabags from Harney & Sons brand which I don't recall seeing in Singapore. Well, I don't recall which tea I had; was it earl grey or pomegranate oolong? Whatever the case, it's an alright tea. Personally, I prefer Gryphon Tea.

Seafood Squid Ink Pasta - first time I had squid ink pasta, I recalled my teeth being stained black! While there was no significant flavor coming from the squid ink, the visual impact made eating it pretty fun as a teenager.

Interestingly, this didn't blacken my pearly whites (more yellowish nowadays)! Taste wise, the smoking pasta was spicy like aglio olio and it's no joke that there was so much garlic, although I did find it strangely delicious.

The clams, dried tomatoes and olives went well together but I was disappointed by the lack of freshness from the prawns and the only-okay squid. For someone who wasn't looking for a main, I can't imagine I cleaned up the whole plate!

Apple Cinnamon Hot Dessert - literally cookies crumble sandwiched between a scoop of vanilla ice cream and apple cinnamon. For one moment, I thought I have ordered wrongly for a sundae!

Satisfying! The apple cinnamon mixture was warm, not insanely sweet and how to deny the contrasting textures with the soft ice cream, the crunchy crumbles and bitey apples, plus the constant transitioning between the cold and hot.

Honestly, I would have licked clean if I am 101% sure no one was looking.

With eight top items and only clearing one, I guess I should come back to Kraffmen Cafe again should I ever revisit Penang. Furthermore, the manager was super duper friendly, making us feel extremely at home!
