Bánh Mì Huynh Hoa - Most Famous @ Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) [Vietnam]

Finally, it's time for me to check out my first bahn mi in Vietnam. Knowing I was craving so badly for it, the Great Kon decided to bring me to the most famous one at Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC); Bánh Mì Huynh Hoa!

So well known was the shop; even the dog had to join the queue. According to Kon, we were lucky as the queue for this bahn mi can be insane, and we only had two persons in front of us. Do note that there's no seating and all bahn mi would be for takeaways.

Unlike bahn mi eateries in Singapore, there's only one type of bahn mi (that's a helpful multiplication table by the way). Given that I had seen plenty of bahn mi stalls along the streets in HCMC for the past few days, I must say that the pricing here, at 62,000 dong, was more than doubled.

Open prepping counter just behind the counter and the experienced lady was systematic and exercised precise efficiency for every step; I timed and one bahn mi took like about 30 seconds!

Catch the video here!

The extremely important Vietnamese baguette; brought in by the French during the colonial period, it's amazing how the Vietnamese managed to transform it into one of their country's iconic dishes!

Our plastic bag that contained the wrapped bahn mi, a wet tissue (I think) and a pack of pickled vegetables, latter of which I strongly believe is the soul for bahn mi.

Nothing much about the size of the bahn mi; not much difference compared to what we have in Singapore although they are commonly cut into halves for ease of sharing.

That supposed pack of wet tissue was actually a pair of plastic gloves!

Side view; might not seem much but don't be too disappointed yet.
The devil was in the details; all the goodies were hidden within!

It was packed with so much ingredients even though the photograph above didn't do it much justice. One thing you would note is that the operator doesn't stinge on ingredients; there were so much pork floss and a thick spread of mayonnaise!

As the pickled vegetables are the soul for bahn mi, I had to put them in to 100% enjoy my first bahn mi in Vietnam! p.s. the plastic gloves came in handy since I can't wait to eat it immediately.

See how much meat there were! It was sinfully delicious; that addictive crunch came with every bite and it was oozing with absolute meaty blissfulness! While 62,000 dong was expensive in the local context, it's converted to only about S$3.64 for us; an impossible pricing in Singapore! I relished to the very last morsel.

Queue was building up when we left!
