As a fervent fan of Chatuchak Weekend Market in Bangkok, i was extremely excited to check out the new Mixt Chatuchak Mall; an air-conditioned extension of the otherwise hot and humid outdoor market!
The one activity i dislike doing in Chatuchak Weekend Market is dining as there's hardly any air-conditioned eatery. Not to fret now as Mixt Chatuchak Mall has a air-conditioned food court on its top floor where you have a wide variety to choose from.
I had their glutinous rice with mango and their skewers which were honestly nothing to scream about as i have had better ones elsewhere in Bangkok.
What captivated me was the above stall; selling Thai style omelette with plain white rice, it seems that i have been on a recent crusade to seek the great taste of the amazing omelette rice i had at Terminal 21's food court which has since ceased operations.
It's actually quite popular and i guess i die die have to give it a try. As you can see, you can choose from over 15 toppings at just 5 baht (about 20 cents) each. In Singapore, a topping would have cost double and in an air-conditioned food court; likely more expensive.
Look at how fluffy the omelette was! In fact, i wasn't keen to try as i wasn't that hungry but a mere glance towards the pan caught my attention as i was walking past! Such is the power of visual appeal!
As you can see, the fluffiness appeared to have subsided after leaving the pan. Even though i wasn't too concerned; i was a lot more disappointed to find a relatively normal tasting omelette which i am able to make right in the comfort of my own kitchen. Maybe someone can share with me a good recipe and i can try making it at home!
