Arrival at Da Nang International Airport (DAD) via GRAB, which was way cheaper than the local transfer service provided by Haian Riverfront Hotel Da Nang!
The Greatest Kon always finds it fascinating that I could bring back so much stuff whenever I travel. In comparison, he could actually make do with just carry-on luggage! That's the reason why I prefer full service airline that already includes check-in luggage in their ticket price.
Anyway, here's towards the conclusion of our 8 days to Danang (The City of Bridges), Bana Hills & Hoi An (The City of Lanterns). Sad but the last five days in Da Nang are quite boring when we didn't bother with museums, the marble mountain and the ancient city of Hue.
Get some last minute snacks before checking in! I can't remember if the items here were priced in US dollars or in Vietnamese dong. I shall confirm in my upcoming trip!
Before clearing immigrations; I have to keep reminding myself sometimes that I should eat before clearing immigration as things are usually much more expensive after I step into the departure hall. One classic example will be Suvarnabhumi Airport at Bangkok, where burger king cost a hand and leg!
Similar to most airports, the departure hall is just a boringly long stretch of passage flanked with mostly shops on one side. Yes, nothing compared to what we have at Changi International Airport.
Some shops for your reference; eateries like Burger King (mainstay for most airports), and selling souvenirs, local foodstuffs, all in US dollars. You can pay in Vietnamese dong, but with the conversion rate by the airport.
Prices, as expected, were not cheap. Always, always remember to buy them when you are outside the airport. However, if the needs arise (my common excuse is I forgot to buy), you can still fall back on the airport!
Crystal Jade Kitchen in Da Nang!
On, I shall have that on my upcoming trip!
View alongside the airport runway.
I think the hill is taller than our bukit timah.
With some time to spare, I was thinking of visiting the Orchid Lounge, as I had lounge access with my Citibank Premiermiles credit card. With just two visits a year, however, I decided to save it till my trip to Hanoi and Sapa at the end of the year.
Nevertheless, a drink is always needed for me to spend my time while awaiting the arrival of the plane. My pandan lotus tea cost US$6 for a medium. Thankfully, it was legit delicious with a salty foam top that contrasted with the sweet pandan tea, and nice lotus seeds! Menu for your reference.
Going one level down to our departing gate of SQ 171.
Small play area for the young kids. Sometimes, I think we are overly pampered in Singapore, where Changi International Airport marvels and we would actually arrive hours in advance just to check out any new offerings / attractions!
Time to board the plane!
