The Finest Tea Shop Cafe - Halal Chocolate Rainbow Cake & Brownie @ Changi Village [Singapore]

After indulging in chicken chop horfun, seafood omelette, pork belly satay and cendol at Changi Village, we were on our way back to the carpark when i caught sight of this little cafe that i have never knew existed.

My initial objective was to plan for another date / time to check it out but something colourful in the display right next to the counter stopped me in my track!

Rainbow cake!!! As i was patting my bloated, satisfied tummy, i thought it would not harm to squeeze in a slice of rainbow cake that would be shared by three persons! The one with cream cheese frosting was reserved so we had to make do with the chocolate version.

I could not help thinking at the same time if i should also go with a few bite-sized cupcakes; they all have that "please order me as i would not disappoint" look! Darn the bloody visual appeal!

Brownie
Settled with the brownie instead as i have always preferred it over cupcakes. I figured its smallness would also make it easier for my stomach.

It was heavy with chocolate, a plus point, and could have performed better if it would to be served warmly toasted with a generous sprinkling of walnuts. Perfection would be attained with an added scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Chocolate Rainbow Cake
Some of you would have fondly remembered the chocolate rainbow cake i had at NOM. The edge this one from The Finest Tea Shop Cafe has over NOM was the edible rainbow beads topping which provided a different texture that brought me back to my childhood when such topping used to attract the most attention from kids.

Other than that, the spongy layers were as usual unspectacular and the chocolate coating wasn't as creamy, wasn't as thick and hence, wasn't as impressive as the one in NOM.

What i felt to be more important than the food was the attitude of the staff; they were so friendly and cheerful, i believe other passersby would have thought we have been friends for ages!
