It's not true that I always depend on Google Maps review scores; at times, we took a look at the queue and decided to join it! The above photograph wasn't representative as the initial queue was about 5-6 persons long!
What we didn't know then was that the stall had already sold out on its char kway teow! And Alex was offered fried bee hoon instead. Oh well, food should be good and since we don't visit Tiong Bahru hawker centre often, we opted to take the deal.
It would be an interesting take; would it taste just like char kway teow, albeit in the bee hoon form?! One thing was missing though; cockles! Nevertheless, let's take a huge scoop and dump it into my mouth!
There's no char kway teow taste at all; wok hei was there but it reminded me of a not-as-crisp San Low Fried Bee Hoon from San Low Seafood Restaurant at Johor Bahru.
Frankly, it got cloying after a while, especially with the slices of porky tasting Taiwanese sausages; to the extent we didn't even bother finishing! Should we even consider the char kway teow in the future? The review score on Google Maps was pathetic though but, why the queue then?! Maybe because it's just S$4.00?
