I posted about the Show at the Dragon Bridge in Da Nang yesterday and mentioned why it's a must visit. Aside from its convenient location next to Son Tra Night Market and proximity to the Dragon Carp Statue, there's another attraction a stone's throw away.
The Love Pier, also known as Love Bridge, dotted with trees full of bright, red lights that stood out in the daytime! I figured it was known as the love pier due to the use of blood red lights but a closer look revealed another reason.
Like a tree filled with green leaves, the structure was actually made up of 84 lights in the shape of a heart! Gosh, the devil lies in the details and you would only realize that the lights were heart-shaped when you step nearer!
Unlike a promenade alongside the river bank, there's a 68-meter long pier / bridge that stretched out into the water, providing visitors and / or couples a panoramic view of the surrounding.
For example, this view of the iconic Dragon Bridge!
Or the above which had both the head of the Dragon Bridge and Dragon Carp Statue, with the love trees along the love pier! It's a view of both east and west.
Blur me actually didn't notice the love locks until Alex pointed them out to me! Like the love locks from many countries, lovers / couples would secure the lock to whichever place on the pier, lock it and then throw the keys into the river, symbolising everlasting love.
I mentioned whichever place because there were love locks on the love trees too! How did they even climb up!? Using ladders!? As the Love Pier is opened 24 hours, I wouldn't be surprised that some couples might really bring a ladder to climb up.
Hardcore lovers, as in those deeply in love, can consider taking photographs using the heart-shaped structure with heart-shaped lights on this second level of a cafe called Marina Coffee.
For the love locks, you can bring any locks you purchased from other stores or even from home, but you can also buy from this store (and others) next to the Love Pier. According to a website here, charges range from "70,000 – 250,000 Vietnamese dong, depending on the size and quality of the product."
