Yenly Yours Dessert - Mango with Mango Cubes Smoothie & Mango Sticky Rice @ Suntec City Mall [Singapore]

I was gunning for a place to sit down and chill after travelling from Bugis to Clarke Quay and finally to Suntec City Mall. Top on my list would be sipping a local cup of teh o kosong iced but my cousin suggested
Yenly Yours Dessert which was said to be Bangkok's "No 1 Thai Mango Cafe" with over 15 outlets in the city of angels.

There were a few good things that came with COVID-19; the ease of submitting your order using a QR code is definitely one of them. Over here at Yenly Yours, you can order, pay online and then wait for the LED to flash your number for collection!

Wait for the merchant to accept your order and you may then refer to the order number indicated on the mobile for collection. Fast and easy although there's that lack of personal touch some of you might miss.

In case you are wondering about the size of the drinks. Since I am sharing with my cousin, the 'privilege' it shall be; didn't come cheap at S$10.90 though...

Mango with Mango Cubes - let's start with this mango smoothie first. Refreshingly delicious and definitely a satisfaction in the hot and humid weather! Pricing was a bit hard to stomach for a stingy person like me, especially when it's the mango season now and I could get more than 10 decent-sized honey mangoes from Chong Pang market.

Mango Sticky Rice - this is one Thai dessert I could hardly resist whenever I visit Bangkok and since Yenly Yours has so many outlets; I admit my expectation was sky high.

Warm coconut cream drenched the warm, glutinous rice that was topped with crunchy rice bits, contrasted perfectly with the cold, sweet mango that was halved with skin still intact. Major problem was with the texture of the rice; it's way too mashed up and I thought I was having rice dumpling! Minor problem; I prefer my mango unskinned for ease of eating!

Cleaned up!

Pasta Lunch Set @ Caffé B (along Club Street) in Singapore

Punctuality is a virtue I wasn't acquainted with as a teenage and it was quite common for me to be at least an hour late. People change with age though and in my recent lunch meetup with a bunch of friends at Caffé B ; I actually arrived 30 minutes ahead of time.

Truth was; I overlooked the timing and thought we were supposed to meet at noon instead of 12.30pm. Whatever the case, this early arrival meant I had some free time to check out the cafe!

It has three floors but maybe due to the lull lunch crowd on a weekend, only the first floor was opened for diners. Second floor was definitely comfy for our group of eight even though we would still likely be too noisy for those looking for a quieter atmosphere.

Area on third floor was more a private space, with a long table good enough to accommodate our boisterous group. It might not be 100% sound proof yet some distance from the rest of the diners would be helpful. I wrote so much also no use as the table given to us were right at the entrance!

Those looking to chill out with just coffee / tea and desserts can consider this chic leisure space. Note, it's next to the washrooms. No smell though as they were kept spanking clean!

My friends started streaming into the cafe and I was famished; time to fill up the tummy. There's an ala-carte menu but the pasta lunch set appeared more worth it with green tea, salad, homemade bread and a pasta.

Green Tea - served cold, it's thirst quenching for the recent hot weather Singapore is hit with! Do keep in mind that it's refillable; we didn't know about it until we asked. To me, I would have assumed that the service staff would be alert enough to automatically fill up my glass; that didn't happen for more than 30 minutes.

Mix Green Salad - well, fresh vegetable. Sauce didn't interest me and I would be better off bringing either the Kimball Thai chilli sauce from my home or buying the kewpie sesame dressing from the NTUC supermarket at Chinatown Point.

Homemade Bread - there were eight of us and the above were for 4 persons. So it's not free flow bread; just two types for each of us. I am not that well versed when it comes to bread and could only guess that one of them is focaccia.

I enjoyed eating them; especially with the accompanying bread. The black one was identified by my friend as tapenade (comprised of "puréed or finely chopped olives, capers, and anchovies") and it's perfect for the focaccia bread. For a person trying to cut down on carbohydrates, I honestly don't mind having more!

Casarecce Tomato Cream with Shrimp - how many types of pasta are you aware of? My limited knowledge puts it as five I am aware of and maybe 10-20 in the whole world. Turned out there are 350 different types and I have never had casarecce pasta before.

The tomato cream was nice although I would prefer it to be richer and more flavourful. Casarecce pasta was described as "short twists of pasta, which appear rolled up on themselves". Texture was hard in my humble opinion and I think I am better off with spaghetti / linguine.

I did mention I was famished. Highlight to me was the crunchy prawns which shouldn't have been the main focus. It's just personal preference; at any one time, I prefer mee pok noodle over mee kia.

Can't help glancing over at the plates of my companions; the squid ink nero looked not bad! I would have ordered that under normal circumstance but I was in the rare mood to try something different.

Dessert - complimentary even though this wasn't included in the menu! This was delicious; it felt like a flaky version of a choux pastry and I absolutely love the smooth, thick yet light tasting cream in the middle!

The Canopy Bridge @ Jewel Changi Airport [Singapore] #jewelchangiairport

Once you step into
Jewel Changi Airport, the first thing that impresses your mind would be the HSBC Rain Vortex and not many people would notice the glass-bottom suspension bridge right above them.

Known simply as the canopy bridge, you can access it on level five with one condition; it's ticketed entry and you would have to bloody pay S$8.00 (an adult) to walk on it! Granted I would get a 10% discount as a Singapore resident but a bundle package makes it a lot more worthwhile.

Re-entry is not allowed; hence, I would suggest you linger for around 10-15 minutes for two reasons. One, because you pay money for it and two, something magical would happen every 10-15 minutes.

Stepping onto the bridge; as this came right after our "walk" on the Manulife Sky Nets, I wasn't that much shaken by the height since the bridge was a lot more stable than the bouncy nets.

Given that it's a weekday, the place was relatively quiet and you can totally feel the peacefulness while on the bridge, especially with the man-made waterfall so close to you. Imagine if Jewel Changi Airport allows you to camp there overnight; a total possibility if you are willing to fork out a hand or leg for the experience.

Why was there a floor mat on a bridge?!

Glass bottom flooring; thanks to the reflections and the texture, I honesty can't see much and this absolutely didn't result in that heart in the mouth moment.

That texturized glass was only for the first three floor panels, likely to prepare you for the full see-through glass panels right in the middle of the bridge! Again, the reflections helped to reduce the visibility, especially when we are walking across. If there's no one around, I bet Alex would have his face plastered against the glass.

Christmas tree right across - time passes so fast nowadays; can't imagine that Christmas was already almost three months ago and the lunar new year was just last month.

Can you make out the old icon of Singapore Changi Airport

Even though the 23-meter high Canopy Bridge seems like the closest you can get to the mouth of the HSBC Rain Vortex, the skytrain tracks connecting the terminals are near to the "waterfall".

Panorama!

One side was the "good afternoon" mat and the other side "wished" you a "good day". Such a polite bridge. As you can see, we are coming to the end of the bridge and you can determine for yourself if the normal price of S$8.00 is worth a visit.

My two other companions had crossed over to the other side but I was glad I stayed a bit longer to take photographs as I happened to catch sight of this big, thick fog spreading from the entry of the Canopy Bridge!

Turned around to tell my companions and it was the same situation on the other end; can't even see where they were!

Had to take a selfie and it was such a serene experience as it felt as if I was situated on top of a mountain, enveloped by fog and clouds! That, to me, was worth the S$8.00 price ticket. p.s. the 'fog' would be activated every 10-15 minutes.

Blue Dragonfly Minced Meat Noodles (Bak Chor Mee) @ West Coast Hawker Centre [Singapore] #westcoasthawkercentre

Singaporeans love their bak chor mee (minced meat noodles) but I am the rare exception; not that I dislike it, just that I place higher preference for other types like fishball noodle, prawn noodle etc.

In my recent visit to West Coast Hawker Centre for lunch, I would have likely chosen a meal from a stall I was more familiar with but the eye-catching signboard of Blue Dragonfly Minced Meat Noodles caught my attention! It appeared to be a new stall manned by a relatively young chap; my curiousity was piqued!

While fishball noodle was also tagged as a must try, I think we should give respect to the signboard; hence, minced meat noodle dry it shall be. 6 types of noodle to choose from and my selection was, no doubt, mee pok.

Even though I was wearing a mask (mandatory given the pandemic), I can still smell the vinegar coming from the bowl of noodles! Main reason why I didn't quite like bak chor mee is because I don't fancy its usual vinegar flavour; however, this bowl of bak chor mee was delicious!

Loads of ingredients (no pork liver) with tasty pork lard, yummy braised mushrooms, tender sliced pork, bouncy fishball, meatball with minced meat within, al-dente mee pork, and the vinegar wasn't overpowering as in the case for some famous stalls. The entire package was so flavourful; I actually slowed down my eating so that I can prolong the enjoyment.

So good; I am salivating as I am typing out the words now. One thing about the soup; it was bland alright but there's an sweetness that I actually found to be relatively interesting!
