Princess & Elephant Hotel (P.E. Hotel) 台南郡象商旅 - Standard Double Room @ Tainan City in Taiwan

The major consideration in selecting a hotel when we had decided on renting a car in Taiwan was to ensure there's a carpark! This proved to be a challenge in Tainan, Taiwan's oldest city, and my preference to stay near the historical centre.

We eventually settled with Princess & Elephant Hotel (P.E. Hotel), a five-floor hotel built in 2017 and onsite were six parking lots! p.s. reservations were required in advance.

Checking in after parking our car! So nice to have the carpark right next to the reception; this differed from Chateau de Chine Hotel Kaohsiung, where we had to park our car in a building diagonally across the hotel.

Just in case travellers to Taiwan are not aware; the hotels no longer provide one-time disposable amenities like toothbrush, comb, shower cap etc. Some hotels might still provide for free, upon request, or impose a charge.

One thing I love about hotels in Taiwan would be their provision of a helpful map showing you notable attractions and popular dining establishments within walking proximity from your accommodation!

Coming to our room located on level 2 - room 205! What I felt primarily about P.E. Hotel was that it didn't give the hotel vibes, and was more like a condominium or AirBNB.

Room
Our Standard Double Room. Nothing exciting about the general decoration or interior design for the place. I didn't know if it was because we were too tired from the drive originating from Kaohsiung.

A thing for sure; the color coordination was a bit off. The different shades of green totally didn't gel with the tiled flooring, the marbled tops and the wood patterned walls.

We were happy to have two queen beds though!
At 23 square meters, it actually didn't feel tight.

Double sink right outside the washroom.

View outside our window on level two. Just noticed we were facing a temple altar which would not have sat well with some. For us, we kept the curtains closed given the need for privacy!

Washroom with separate shower cubicle, and off matching black-while tiles on the floor, and flower tiles on the wall. This totally gave the vibes of a nostalgic washroom popular in Singapore in the 1980s!

Laundry Room
Located on level six (there's no level four in the hotel), this allowed you to wash your dirty clothes, and dry the wet ones, for free! As we were there for only one night, we didn't bother as our intention was to check out the city as much as we could.

Do note that the laundry room operates only from 10am till 10pm, and the pathway leading to the room on level six could be quite dark. When I first checked out the floor, I thought it was a restricted housekeeping area since the lights were switched off.

Chinese instructions and guidelines in the room.
A wash cycle takes 40 minutes and a drying run shall be 45 minutes.

For Free
Aside from free bike rental, guests were also given 24-hour access to the coffee and drink machines, snack and sweet bars! This would be great news for those with a sweet tooth and/or with kids.

I am happy to make use of the water dispenser.
Noticed the fridge next to the water dispenser?

Out of curiosity, I opened it to find containers of ice cream.
As there was no label on the fridge, I am unsure if it was free.
