Four Seasons Chinese Restaurant @ Siam Paragon in Bangkok [Thailand]

Branding is important for any company and when we saw this Four Seasons Chinese Restaurant at Siam Paragon; we figured there will be a high level of prestige and reputation, and hence decided to have dinner there.

It has no relevance to the famous Four Seasons chain of hotels and resorts, except for its name, although it appeared to be a branch of a popular restaurant in London. Whatever the case, the restaurant had limited seating capacity even though it was still packed amidst the tight food competition in the shopping mall.

With just three of us, I honestly thought it will be a matter of over-ordering since dim sum was no longer an option at that time and there's only so much Alex can ingest! And even less so if he were to find the food less than palatable. Without further ado; here's what we had.

Deep Fried Prawn in Salted Egg Yolk - this was literally hardcore salted egg yolk without the sweetness we are accustomed to. I can't imagine I am saying this but the salted egg was just overwhelming; and I am happy to indulge the deep fried prawn, without the salted egg yolk.

Pork Belly with Preserved Vegetables - order this only when you have plain rice to go with the meat and sauce! On its own, you would likely find this too savory, and likely salty for your taste buds.

Braised pork belly was soft and tender and while the preserved vegetables were salty as expected, eating with rice drenched in the delicious sauce was just perfect as a meal.

Peking Duck - frankly, the peking duck was the reason why we decided to even step into Four Seasons Chinese Restaurant in the first place. One whole duck would be too much and we opted for half duck instead.

Crisp roasted skin with a thin layer of meat; the best ratio for Peking duck! Add the rest like cucumber, spring onions, sweet sauce onto the popiah skin, wrap it and slowly chew through for the bursts of sinfully oily yet delicious bites! No regret!

Duck with Beancurd Soup - typical of Peking duck items, you can choose to use the remaining meat for another dish and we opted for the above. Peppery, milky, appetising yet not fantastic enough to be memorable.  Maybe we should have gone with the deep fried duck meat with salt and pepper instead.

=====

Before and after! Though we did enjoy the peking duck and the pork belly with preserved vegetables, the pricing was almost comparable to what I would have paid for in Singapore. And being a stingy nationalist who loves to compare; if quality is similar, I would prefer to contribute to Singapore economy instead.
