Wildfire Chicken & Burgers @ NAFA Campus in Bugis [Singapore] #wildfireburgers

The three musketeers (the Great Kon, Alex and i) would usually meet up on our birthday months for a get-together but the circuit breaker (CB) derailed the celebrations until last Wednesday!

Knowing it's a must to have something amazing, the Great Kon suggested dinner at Wildfire Chicken & Burgers. Opened less than two months ago, i was shocked to find a Google rating of five stars across 22 reviews! I am going to cut the chase and dive right into the food and drinks.

Coca Cola Signature Mixture (Smoky) - curiosity egged us to get this signature mixture that's doubled the price from your usual can of coke. Served in a glass bottle, the beverage was smooth with a noticeable touch of interesting earthy, smoky wood flavour.

Burnt Cheesecake - even though this was the rage among friends during the CB, i have yet to try baking it! Nonetheless, this was recommended and while i initially thought it was a bit too much for each of us to have a slice; that thought was thrown out immediately after i took a bite.

Featuring a wobbly cheesy middle, this was utterly delicious with the burnt, top layer leaving a caramelized aftertaste in my mouth! This is actually my first burnt cheesecake and i must say the bar is set pretty high!

Fried Chicken - i don't profess to be a big fan of burgers but fried chicken is another story. As chicken is included as part of the brand name (despite not appearing on the signboard), i already knew i had to give it a try.

Using only fresh chicken delivered daily, we were blessed with moist, juicy chicken meat that wasn't attached to black, blood-stained bones. However, my issue was more with the herb-dotted batter; it was crumb-like and it's taste didn't quite appeal to me.

Shoestring Fries - the fries were served together with our burgers about 10 minutes after we ordered our food; the fries were hot, and remained crispy throughout our meal. Nothing much i can say about the flavour since they were just lightly tossed with salt. I wish there were chilli sauce though.

Before i begin with the review of the four burgers, they all looked the same from the top. To know which type, you would have to refer to the sticker at the bottom of the wrapper.

Let's start!

Classic 001 Cheese Burger (Double) - now, the thing about wildfire burgers is that they were all wrapped so tightly; you don't get that pretty, mouth-watering picture of a burger that's fluffed up with ingredients peeking out from the sides.

Nevertheless, i loved the brioche buns used for all the burgers and look at that two thick pieces of USDA certified black Angus beef patty; using the "mighty Binchotan-charcoal-fired INKA grill, double ventilated to generate heat in excess of 750 degrees celsius", there was a nice charred, smoky flavour to the patties yet the meat continued to retain their juiciness! Only problem; the chef might have been too liberal with the salt.

Truffle Mushroom Burger (Double) - similar to the Classic 001 Cheese Burger with additional sauteed mushrooms and truffle mayo (instead of chipotle mayo used for the classic 001).

Taste wise, the hit of truffle dissipated quite quickly as you chomp down the burger and likewise, the patties were too salty for us! It was disappointing given that i expected better for the first two burgers listed on the menu.

The Eggstarter - guess what came to mind when this was unwrapped? Egg McMuffin from McDonald's even though appearance wise; it's far fetched.

I took a bite and was totally blown away by the thick chunk of creamy folded egg right in the middle, the crunchy bacon on top (no, thankfully not salty) and the sweetness of the caramelized onions at the bottom! Forget about Egg McMuffin; this is the real deal!

Shabu Burger - there's always a reason to leaving this to the last. Sometimes, it's in chronological order but this was in fact the first burger we had at Wildfire Chicken & Burgers; hence, it can either be the worst or the best.

Answer: the best. To put it simply, this is gyu don in burger form, without the rice, and it was downright epic! There was a generous amount of black angus beef cooked in yakiniku sauce and the whole package, including bunashimeiji mushrooms, spanish onions, goma sauce and of course the brioche bun, was perfect and something i am craving for right now! *salivating*

=====

Would i return? You bet. Definitely would go for the Shabu Burger and Burnt Cheesecake! Okay, maybe a bottle of the Coca Cola Signature Mixture too!
