It's someone's birthday today and darn is she lucky as it happens to take place on the second day of phase two of Singapore's circuit breaker (CB); of which one relaxation measure was that a household can now accept a maximum of five visitors!
Hence, i brought my parents to my sister's place to celebrate Jovyn's birthday! She was ecstatic of course although it would have been a happier day for her if the swimming pool at the condominium is open.
As her paternal grandparents had already prepared a cake for her at dinnertime, i got Jovyn her favourite chocolate rice swiss roll from Polar Cakes; it would have felt weird to celebrate a birthday without a cake, a lighted candle and a song!
Without a smile and with a smile; she is slowly maturing into a young lady and with that also means she is getting more conscious of herself; just like we all did when we grow from kids to teens. Can you just imagine that just a few years ago, she was this hyperactive kid who would never resist to smile in front of the camera!?
Even the sibling rivalry was obvious! I still remember the animosity between my younger sister and i which gave my mom a lot of pain; thankfully, we turned out alright when we reached adulthood!
Family portrait - the unprecedented CB period has either mainly resulted in people complaining about weight gain and while it's the truth with the kids; i did feel that my elder sister seems to have lost quite a bit of weight.
Made her wish and blew the candle; do you still remember what you always wished before you blew the candles on your birthday cake when you were young? World peace? A new toy? I honestly couldn't recall.
Cutting it with a fork instead of a knife since they were already sliced. I took a bite and frankly, didn't understand why Jovyn likes it so much; was dry and the amount of cream was quite paltry. Maybe i should attempt baking a chocolate rice swiss roll next time!
Jovyn is a carbon copy of my elder sister and please don't be deceived by the slimmer figure displayed by my sister; she was chubby as a kid too!
I can't make the comparison of the weight my sister had when she was Jovyn's age but today, i was asked to take a photograph of the arms' difference. Daughter's one was almost doubled her own mom.
Whatever the case, i can't get Jovyn to exercise or reduce her food intake. Maybe it's easier for me to inculcate her interest in photography; she seems to have a flair for taking portraits, as evidenced from the photographs above.
