The Mosque on Panyee Island @ Phang Nga Province (Near Phuket Island) [Thailand]

Ko Panyee is an interesting island as there's really not much flat land for the residents to construct anything except to build up from the surrounding sea; resulting in a pretty impressive village with buildings mostly on stilts.

From far, aside from the towering height of the limestone cliff, i had noticed the minarets of the mosque and went in search of it after a seafood lunch on the island.

Signs were clear and it didn't take us long to navigate our way in the dim, confusing passages. There were plenty to explore but time was limited; as expected when we joined a tour.

The Panyee Darussalam Mosque with golden domes and shimmering blue-white mosaic tiles donning the pillars and archways!

Doesn't it look as if two giants were facing each other in a fight?!

I would have given what lies beyond the wall a miss if not for the fact that i do recognise the word "cemetery"! Muslim cemeteries are usually simple and not as complicated as the ones for Christian and Chinese but since i was already there; no harm taking a look.

As expected; it's a scene of simpleness and according to Wikipedia, "grave markers are simple, because outwardly lavish displays are discouraged in Islam". Now, i know.
