On the same Bangkok trip where we checked out Kitty Cat Cafe near Victory Monument, my friends and i also braved the rain to visit the Caturday Cat Cafe!
A feral cat was taking shelter from the drizzle and while it was irritating (i dislike the rain when i am travelling), the pro of a rainy day was a very much reduced crowd at the cafe.
From my understanding, there's a time limit of 90 minutes but if there's no queue / no one on the wait list, you can stay as long as you want! Given its perfect location next to Ratchathewi BTS Skytrain, i believe seeing a queue is usually the norm.
Let's remove our shoes before stepping in! Those with sweaty feet should consider wearing slippers to the cafe; you wouldn't want the trip to be wasted just because the kitties were turned off by the aroma of your feet.
Huge collage of Polaroid photos and notes from all over the world. Come to think about it, what would you have done if there is a 1,000 Singapore dollar note staring at you?
Be mindful of the rules and regulations, including the one where your food and drinks would not be replaced if you let the cats touch / eat it. Hm... what if the cats pounce on my food?
The inside of the cafe! Unlike Kitty Cat Cafe, Caturday Cat Cafe was way more decorated with setup and installations skewed towards more movement for the cats; quite similar to the now closed Purr Cat Cafe.
For example; the hanging platforms, the humongous cat tree. At one point in my life, i did contemplate having a cat and was having those fanciful ideas of cat trees and connecting platforms across the house! So cool right?
Table with a glass top! Thought it's quite scary for the felines lying there; imagine seeing something dropping on top even though you are kind of protected! A better idea is to have glass enclosures on the ceiling or something where you can see the squiggly paws of the cats!
Sometimes, all that the cats desire is just a simple cardboard box!
Sometimes, all that the cats desire is just a simple cardboard box!
Cat, cat and more cats! In total, there were more than thirty cats roaming in the cafe. However, the crowd was also denser compared to Kitty Cat Cafe and it's hard for me to take pictures of every single cat!
Pictures and names of the cats in the cafe were listed in this section on the menu. I guess they might respond to their names although essentially, they might not be trained in English.
However, it's always helpful to have cat treats and snacks (separately charged) to entice the kitties to come over and you get options like jelly stick, freeze dried chicken, tuna can and even catnip.
My drink and food; I would recommend the mix sausages at 218 baht as the sausages were grilled perfectly and were bites of delicious juiciness!
Cat portraits; have you heard of the long standing rumour that cats are taking over the world? The portraits reminded me of the animation film by Studio Ghibli; The Cat Returns.
Even the toilet was decorated with a portrait of Mona Lisa holding on to a cat that's more than ready to scratch the lady! The most amazing cafe toilet i have been to is at Tiramisu Hero in Singapore!
A television screen with changing window scenes of a cat walking all over the world and rows of ancient CRT television screens that acted like a time-out cages for misbehaving felines! No, misbehaving kids would not be given the privilege; they will be asked to leave the premises.
Special mention of this friend of mine who is a big cat lover! Thanks to Andy, i have been visiting quite a number of cat cafes and he has also been "molesting" a lot of cats in the neighbourhood! I didn't even know a cat can be that happy to have its butt scratched!
Lastly, if you wish to buy cat-themed souvenirs, take your pick from the wide variety at Caturday Cat Cafe; including and not limited to cat collars, USB drives, coasters etc.
