Swatow Coffee Penang @ Georgetown in Penang [Malaysia]

I was actually on my way to check out a supposedly old school chee cheong fun in Georgetown (Penang) when we walked past this Swatow Coffee Penang that commanded  a high 4.7 score on Google Maps! 

Knowing that chee cheong fun can hardly fill up the space in my pretty empty stomach in the morning, we stepped into the air-conditioned coffee shop, in seek of coffee and toast.

The interior design for level one contrasted with level two; former was more like your typical coffee shop, albeit with a curvature concrete counter and the latter was cozy and more cafe like.

Kopi - here's our breakfast and let's talk about my kopi gao siew dai first! As you can see, it was frothy and it was such a thick coffee that I assumed a sore throat would be coming my way! A delicious cup of coffee that was perfect for me; rich of flavor, smooth, not acidic tasting and not overly sweet! 

Soft Boiled Eggs - Alex's favorite breakfast in a Nanyang coffee shop; color looked a bit pale but Alex didn't complain about it. So, I am assuming all's good! p.s. you don't see me eating soft boiled eggs when I am overseas as I am afraid of getting the runs, and I prefer to spend my calories on other food.

Signature Toast - don't play play about the toast from Swatow Coffee, aside from using homemade kaya, they used cold butter from the Lurpak brand that I utterly love! 

Thick slab of cold butter was just so comforting and I love everything about the toast; kaya was rich with a strong pandan smell that didn't feel artificial and the toast was fluffy, of a satisfying thickness, and toasted just right.

In case you are wondering if it is charcoal toasted.

Frankly, this definitely deserved its high review score on Google Maps! It was a tad pricey even for a Singaporean but hello, it was air-conditioned! Furthermore, i recently paid S$4.20 for a teh o kosong in one of the reputable coffee shop brands in Singapore! That's like RM13!
