Sarawak Kolo Mee from One Ton Mee @ Bendemeer Food Centre [Singapore] #bendemeerhawkercentre

As mentioned in my posting on Nam Rong Chee Cheong Fun, it's very recently that i got to visit Bendemeer Food Centre even though i had known about it for a long time. While my objective was to check out the food, it wasn't the chee cheong fun that's first on my list.

First on the list was the above stall that commanded a queue. To be frank, i walked around the hawker centre after my meal and two stalls particularly stood out as the line was insanely long; that of a beef noodle and laksa.

Well, i am one-person that day and the tummy couldn't stuff in so much. Hence, i shall proceed with ordering from the one ton mee. Although wanton mee seemed to be signature dish, as the shop name implies, i shall be ordering my very first kolo mee!

The strong recommendation came from a Malaysian friend and i thought it would be 'safe' for me to give it a try. Sometimes, i hesitate to try new food because it might not be authentic and you get a lousy experience that doesn't represent the dish.

Visually, the one thing that differs from our typical wanton noodle is the addition of dark-colored minced pork. How do you think this would fare against my favourite wanton mee?!

The noodle from kolo mee was a bit like instant noodle; dry, slightly on the heavy side with the tendency to stick together. Minced meat was palatable although not impressionable to warrant a higher price tag as compared to the wanton mee. Char siew was tasty and i know for a fact i could get the same char siew with wanton mee. It's not hard to know my stand on this battle between kolo and wanton mee!
