Seafood Pirates - Seafood Soup @ Yishun Park Hawker Centre [Singapore] #seafoodpirates #yishunparkhawkercentre

My recent obsession with seafood soup means i had to stop and take a closer look when the main signboard of Seafood Pirates was so much into my face, even though i had already ordered my food from another stall.

I knew it was a matter of time i returned to Yishun Park Hawker Centre and voila; i was back within a week and collected my large bowl of Pirate's Signature seafood soup after a wait of less than 8 minutes.

To be shared between my mum and i (there were dishes from other stalls), the bowl consisted of prawns, oyster, fish, clams, fish re ball, cabbage and tomato. Having had the epic seafood soup from Yan Ji and OAR Seafood Soup at Old Airport Road Food Centre, i had assumed i would get something similar and hence, need not travel too far away to satisfy my seafood craving.

But it's not to be; the broth was more the kind you get from Japanese ramen with an unmistakable touch of bovril. I continued to slurp up the soup as if it's a delicacy although deep down; i knew i would still prefer the seafood soup i was initially acquainted with at Yan Ji.

To be fair to the operator, the soup was inspired by a version he had in Taiwan; which means there's no reference to our local, Singapore variant. By the way, i am loving the plump clams and the cabbage which had soaked in the flavour from the broth. p.s. gonna try the oyster omelette rice from Seafood Pirates next time as it's only priced S$3.00.
