Melite Chinese Restaurant (萃英阁) @ NUS Staff Club

A new restaurant has recently taken over the empty space vacated by Sun Asian Bistro and we decided to pay it a visit simply to check out the food at this supposedly fine dining establishment.

Despite the renovation, we can still see remnants of the old bistro although that was hardly of any consideration when food was of topmost priority for all five of us!

Yang Chow Fried Rice
Long accustomed to strong wok-hei aroma in fried rice, this was a bit too mild in my opinion. To add on to the disappointment, even the flavour was too bland for my liking.

Fried Egg with Tomato
Mom can whip up a mean serving of tomato eggs but this totally took the cake! It was just too palatable and filled with a hearty flavouring that seemed to contradict with the very light seasoning.

Fried Kailan in Oyster Sauce
Perfectly cooked and crunchy, i have to mention that no matter what, these were just stir fried vegetables! Okay, maybe i should not speak too soon. My mom's stir fried cabbage with luncheon meat is epic!

Sweet and Sour Pork Ribs
This was terribly delicious!!! For one who has seen a lot of pork rib variants (honey garlic, milk, coffee, stout etc), i am taken aback when i took my first bite.

The sweet, vinegarish sauce definitely set it apart from the rest and was amazingly tangy. I have only one suggestion; possible to give us bigger and meatier pork ribs?
