When my colleague's car stopped right in front of a restaurant known as Taste Bug's, i was under the impression she must have an adventurous streak just like me; the weird tendency to ingest insects and bugs.
A pity it was only a cheeky play of word for "buds" and what i found on the menu was a range of Western cuisines including Italian, Spanish, American, Mediterranean, just to name a few. There were no crunchy grasshoppers, no saccharine bees, no black ants and no evil scorpions.
Oh well, it was supposed to be quite popular among diners in the Bukit Indah area which was overcrowded with far too many restaurants; many with equally quirky names and nice ambiance!
Dragon Fruit w Honey
Thick and naturally luscious with that strong hint of luxurious honey sweetness, this was a glass of dragon fruit juice at its best form! Yummy!
Steak and Chicken Chop
To be frank, the presentation was similar to one found in a higher end food establishment in Singapore but as far as i am concerned, the "look" is only secondary to its taste.
Despite confirming with me twice that the above was beef, i eventually found out he had mistakenly served me lamb. No apology from the supervisor when i commented about it. It's alright; i can actually live with bad service so long food is good.
Chicken chop was more a chicken cutlet in my opinion and i thought it was nothing to scream about. Guess i had been too pampered with fried chicken from Popeye, Texas Chicken, Arnolds etc.
The steak actually tasted pretty good and featured a moist pinkish middle that said a lot about the skills of the chef. However, the chef seemed to be too generous with his secret blend of spiced salt! I think i am getting older and could no longer manage overly salty food!
