Blanco Court Prawn Mee beside Haji Lane @ Beach Road [Singapore]

Frankly, i have heard of Blanco Court Prawn Mee for the longest time but as i am not a huge fan of soupy prawn noodle; i had been delaying the visit until my brother in law had a strong craving for it last Sunday!

Taking up the ground level of two shophouses along beach road; i was surprised to see the eatery filled with customers even before the lunch peak! As you are required to secure your own table before you order your food, it's a guessing and waiting game for us.

Thankfully, we didn't have to endure too long a wait for a table although our group consisted of six persons and most tables were for at most 4 persons.

Yet another wait of almost 30 minutes for the bowls of prawns noodles to be placed on our tables. From the efficiency point of view, it's a waste of dining space as the turnaround for each group of customer was too long given that people would usually take about half that amount of time to finish their bowl of noodles.

My basic prawn noodles came with thick bee hoon and at S$5.80 a bowl since the S$4.80 option wasn't available; it was pricier than my favourite plate of Kay Lee Char Siew rice! Taste wise, it was a rich, intense pork broth that many apparently enjoyed even though i prefer one steeped with prawn; like the one from River South (Hoe Nam).

Furthermore, i hate to de-shelled my prawns, especially when they were swimming in a boiling hot broth! To be fair, the shells were quite easy to remove and the prawns tasted fresh and delicious!
