The irresistible thing about Groupon deals is the eye-catching amount of savings you can make by merely clicking the "buy now!" button and keying in your credit details.
However, the "All-You-Can-Eat Premium Beef Buffet" at only S$25.95 with over 50% savings was even more tempting for a man who has to control his diet (post surgical care)!
It didn't take long for me to whip out my credit card for purchase of my second Groupon voucher [for four pax]! I paid for the slightly pricier option of an additional wine as the deal with only buffet was already sold out!
According to the "Terms and Conditions", we can choose to have our meals either on a Wednesday or Sunday at either Holland Village or Esplanade Mall.
Our choice? For proximity sake, it has to be the Barossa at Holland Village, along Lorong Mambong. Parking was a breeze before 6pm on a Wednesday!
Original price for the beef buffet is a whopping S$43.90 and that was before service charge and GST. Some people are skeptical when it comes to online deals but this was truthfully a good bargain.
Given the opportunity, i would have opted for indoor seating! Alas, it was fully reserved and we had to make do with the outdoor. Thankfully, it was a cool evening!
Many buffet lovers would likely be disappointed to see the extremely limited items on the buffet menu. I was although i figured this limitation will force me to focus on the marketed "premium beef".
As part of the purchase, each of us was given a glass of wine; red (shiraz or merlot) or white. With the exception of white wine (especially ice wine and moscato), i once again confirm that I don't have the good fortune to enjoy red wine.
Sauces for the meat; truffle bearnaise (the best), wild mushroom cream (too light for me), blue cheese sauce (not pungent enough) and red wine sauce (normal). Honestly, i like my steak with no sauce.
This should be the minimal standard for any steak knife! You can put a live cow in front of me and i bet i can slay it using this dagger!
Our steaks and side dishes! Each piece of grilled meat weighed around 150-200 grams and from my calculation, i would get my money worth by having at least two orders of beef.
I am pleased to declare that i outperformed my expectation with Australian Ribeye, King Island T-Bone and Waguy D Rump! The rump had the tenderest bite whereas the ribeye was sinfully fatty!
That's not all; i also managed to take in two healthy bowls of appetising barrosa salad that had green vegetables, baby tomatoes, pine nuts, avocado and cranberries!
My mom would be so proud of me!

An ala carte menu is available even for buffet nights on Wednesday and Sunday that includes pasta, pizza and, i just realised this, desserts!!!!! Argh!! I should have ordered some....
