Skudai Duck Rice - The Braised Type (士古来鸭肉) @ Johor [Malaysia]

I had the good fortune to meet up with a secondary school classmate who now resides in Johor and she, together with her husband, brought me to this famous duck rice located in Skudai! 

Honestly, the first thing that came to mind when i heard the word Skudai was You Kee, the restaurant that served an epic crystal charsiew! Skudai is supposed to be the location for its flagship outlet!! 

Anyway, it's braised duck we are going to touch on today; so it's best not to get too carried away with char siew. There would be ample opportunities for me to check out you kee in the future. :) 

As some of you would know, i am not adventurous when it comes to 'special parts' and hence, would rather stick to just the meat than try intestines, livers, and in this case, pig ears! 

At one glance, i was thinking in my heart that was a mountain of duck meat; each thinly sliced on a pool of braised sauce said to have been boiling for over thirty years! Nevertheless, why complain when the owner is being so generous? Accept the gracious act and indulge!! 

For those accustomed to the sweeter braised sauce, you are bound to be disappointed with this popular version from Skudai; it tasted much more savoury which was in fact quite sought after for those who love the 'meaty' punch! For me, i still prefer my well-balanced braised duck from Sia Kee!

My friend treated but i understand it was around RM40 for everything on the table, including drinks for four persons!
