We were less than an hour from landing at Taoyuan International Airport and I took a look outside at the bird's eye view from my window seat on the Singapore Airlines flight.
What are those things peeking out from the clouds? Turned out it was the central mountain range that stretches from north to south of Taiwan; length of 310 kilometers!
It was such a wonderful sight that I literally didn't bother much about the lowlands. Slicing across the country, it's like a natural demarcator between the west and east of Taiwan.
My dad would have enjoyed the view but as we were seated on the left of the airplane for our 2023 See Iconic Taiwan Anew Tour Package via Chan Brothers, our sight was centered on Taiwan Straits!
Clouds had cleared and I spotted something.
Weren't those snow on mountain peaks?!
Now, a mountain range can have numerous mountains and i knew the tallest would be Yushan (Jade Mountain) at 3,952 meters! And you want to guess how many mountains in Taiwan are over 3,000 meters? A shocking 268!
