Li Lai Fried Food (協力旺炸雞) & 香姨小吃(21麵食) @ Alishan National Forest Recreation Area in Taiwan

For most people, the cold makes them crave for something hot, something soupy that has the miraculous effect of warming up their bodies immediately!

Specifically for me, I was in seek of something else, and it was located within a building by the name of Na No Ma Fe (娜若瑪菲商圈) at the Alishan National Forest Recreation Area, which was somewhat like a hawker centre.

Found the stall I was seeking for;Li Lai Fried Food (協力旺炸雞)! In the touristy area of Alishan, this commanded a decent 4.4 on google maps, albeit from just 12 reviewers.

Chicken Cutlet
- deep fried food was what I was craving for and I guess nothing beats chicken cutlet when one is in Taiwan, especially when it was fresh and scalding hot from the boiling oil!

Even though it came with bones, this was surprisingly good, with a satisfying thickness and juiciness! You know what made it better? The sprinkling of the addictive plum powder!

French Fries and Squid Balls - shall review this as a whole. Normal with simple salt and pepper seasoning, and likely came frozen, and not freshly made. I should have asked for the sweet potato and taro instead. p.s. I didn't because Alex doesn't like sweet potatoes.

Braised Pork with Rice - with other eateries in the building, I can't resist but order this basic luroufan from 香姨小吃(21麵食)! What we couldn't accept and didn't know before, was that the bowl was topped with pungent bamboo shoots! Why?!

To be fair, the taste was bearable for me but no way would Alex accept this and I didn't want to ingest too much calories on my own! Braised tofu was okay and my affection was obviously with the braised pork; rich, thick yet not overly sweet! Not the best but deserved a 7.0, maybe an 8.0 without the bamboo shoots!
