Travellers would always be captivated by the stunning sight of the above building at Sapa; to the extent multiple photographs would be taken again and again. It draws away the attention from the line of large golf carts along the road though.
I knew it's like a local mode of transportation but given the experience of tuk tuk in Thailand; I was hesitant to even attempt asking for the price. Until day two of my Sapa trip; when I was too tired to climb 600 meters back to ALIANA Boutique Sapa Hotel & Spa.
The price was asked and it turned out to be 50,000 dong (about S$2.50) for three of us! To be fair, the more persons you have, the more affordable. If you managed to have full capacity, it would likely cost about 10,000 dong a person.
Not that it matters to me as I would be so willing to pay S$2.50, instead of walking about 10 minutes, with an upward slope! Anyway, the vehicle was literally a large golf cart, the same one that my office used to have, and manage. I could literally drive it myself.
However, traffic was heavy and the driver was skillful in navigating! And it took us less than three minutes to reach the hotel! Distance wise, slope wise, I can excuse. But as you can see from the photograph, it was drizzling too! Best S$2.50 I spent.
