Soya beancurd is one thing I would have for breakfast every morning at work. Hence, it's hard to resist when we chanced upon Pin An Tofu Pudding, which was located near Wenhua Road Night Market!
Order list as above! Thankfully, I do read basic traditional Chinese characters (all thanks to years of indulgence in comic books from Hong Kong and Taiwan) and had no issue understanding the choices available for us. By the way, you have to order and pay first!
Soya Milk Beancurd - Alex went for the basic; the kind you can easily get in Singapore too! That's boring right?! I took a spoonful and thought the sugar syrup used wasn't as aromatic as the ones at Mr Bean or Whampoa Beancurd in Singapore. It's just sweet, like normal sugar syrup.
Beancurd with Brown Sugar, Sweet Potato and Yam Balls - I was more adventurous and topped up for toppings (pun unintended)! Even though there were options for either cold or hot, I opted for the latter given the chilly weather on our first night in Taiwan!
The beancurd was soft and silky but I took issue with the lack of bean flavor! Great texture, not as great flavour. :( Saving grace was the serving of sweet potato and yam balls. What we had in Singapore couldn't match what I had here; with QQ texture and chockablock full of the natural yet yummy flavour of yam and sweet potatoes.
I miss the beancurd from Mr Bean that day although with the temperature of just about 12 degree celcius, it's still stomach warming to ingest the hot beancurd down our throat.
