Snorkeling between Similan Island No 9 and 8 @ Christmas Point / Namchai Bay in Phang Nga Province (Near Phuket) [Thailand]

It's time for another snorkeling session in Similan Islands and let's send off our hero for the day; Mr Alex Chiu, who has heroically rescued my dad from a near-drowning episode just a few hours ago!

This round was supposed to take place at Island No 9 (Koh Ba Ngu) but the view in front of me is the main Island No 8 (Koh Similan); hence, my decision to indicate between 8 and 9 instead for better representation.

Dad had somewhat recovered from his shock and jumped into the water too! This time, he obediently donned a life jacket; just like i did.

The underwater world which appeared greenish and a tad boring with just small fishes surrounding the rocks and not much corals. So far, the best snorkeling i had was at Perhentian Islands although the most beautiful was in Maldives

Rocks are always great places to catch of glimpse of something interesting but you have to swim slowly so as not to miss out! Being impatient by nature, i think i am quite lucky sometimes.

Didn't expect a jellyfish though! Alex told me before that once you see a jellyfish, look around you as they could descend upon a spot within minutes and it can be dangerous! I did check out my surroundings and i guess it's a lonesome jellyfish. Well, better steer clear of its path as our family honestly doesn't need another "incident".

Other random photos taken while snorkeling.

Many sergeant major fishes which are the most common species i encounter in my snorkeling expeditions. Their population is so widespread; their conversation status is tagged as "least concern".

Climbed back to the boat a breather; right in front of the bow is Similan Island No 9 (Koh Ba Ngu); as you can see, it's pretty far from where the boat was.

While many people were snorkeling, some were simply uninterested like the teenager in the above photo! I can understand why as i was a teen before (for obvious reasons) and one memorable trip stood out; my family vacation to Lake Toba when i was 15 years ago. Back then, the discman was my favourite companion!

The more interesting fishes; including the last one which appeared like a knife without a handle and has cute, beady eyes. Sigh, maybe it's time for me to change my underwater camera.

Am always envious of people who can dive down with ease! My weak stamina and tiny lungs doesn't allow me to do that since i would breathless in about 30 seconds or less.

Plastic bag in the water! With all the hooha surrounding the straw-less campaign, i think many people are now more aware of our excessive use of plastics in our everyday life.

The landmark of Similan Islands; the Sail Rock! More on that in the next few days / weeks as my dad and i did climb for a closer look, like those little people you see next to the iconic rock.

Alex was back from his snorkeling! Poor him was still slightly affected by what happened to my dad and throughout the trip; it's obvious he didn't enjoy it as much as he usually does.
