The Teo siblings have been talking about another karaoke session since the delivery of the bulldog cheeks baby.
We did manage to schedule a date and time on a weekend but the new Teo Heng outlet at Sembawang Shopping Centre (SSC) had run out of rooms!

To satisfy the singing craving, we decided to take leave purposely on a weekday! For those who are unaware, Teo Heng is famous for offering really cheap rates despite having only one outlet at Katong a few years ago.
First thing that struck me was the size of the room. It can definitely fit in four persons although it will be very much a squeeze.
A typical setup for any karaoke room; main television and a navigation TV.
However, unlike the conventional karaoke TV setup, songs navigation is via a touchscreen TV. The adoption of latest technology is always welcome except for one issue; it is a pain in the ass when you have to keep swiping the screen to search for a song! An additional remote control will be extremely helpful.
These instruments would be put to better use in a bigger room. Agree?
Notwithstanding the above, there are benefits to put your money on Teo Heng than Kbox and Party World. Hygiene is one since disposable microphone covers are provided for free.
Wireless microphones!!! It's frustrating when the wired mics are passed from one hand to another and you are seated right in the middle. There were even occasions when i accidentally tripped on the irritating wires.
Rates are simply too irresistible; we paid only S$18 nett for 3 hours of continuous singing for three of us even though the room can accommodate a maximum of 4 pax.
Best of all, you can bring in your own food!!! Macdonalds, KFC, Pizza Hut, cup noodles, anything!! So long you keep the room clean.

At its Sembawang branch, Teo Heng has a tie-up with this snack shop at the same level. I would have tried if not for a freaking full lunch at Mayim.

ReplyDeleteThe variety is okay (albeit with alot of unknown singers) although navigation can be a pain in the ass. Payment is on a per-room basis.
