After the sumptuous, supper affordable lobster dinner we had at Son Tra Night Market on day four of my Da Nang / Hoi An trip, we can't resist the temptation and decide to revisit the seafood section on our last night!
Dilemma came in the forms of - should we go back to the same eatery or be adventurous a bit and seek a new eatery?! It's not an easy decision to make and we opted to try something new for comparison.
A follow-up dilemma - which stall should we go for?! Now, that's really tricky as there were more than ten to choose from and I am guessing there could be twenty or more! It's hard to determine as same eateries have a long line of seafood on display and there were too many people shoving their menus to our faces!
We settled for one set that cost 600,000 dong (about S$30); consisting of two lobsters, prawns, squids and clams. Seating area as above. I am praying hard that rain shall not descend on our upcoming trip to Da Nang; fingers crossed.
Cooking styles available for our two lobsters.
Our selection: cheese sauce, and garlic butter sauce.
While waiting for our seafood meal, I roamed around to see what else we could eat! Needless to say, the nice aroma of grilled / barbecued caught the attention of my tummy!
Sugarcane Juice - after having a taste of the sugarcane juice in Vietnam at Bánh Bèo Tâm, I decided to give it another go! While not as good, the sweetness was always welcome and there was just a tad of interesting raw grassiness to the drink.
Avocado Smoothie - you know, I would say the best avocado juice can be found in Indonesia! This one was okay; my main issue was with the rather large pieces of ice found in the smoothie!
Grilled Beef and Chicken Skewers - beef didn't have much flavor and not tender enough to warrant a reorder in the future, whereas the chicken was tough, lacking the juiciness I would have preferred.
Lobster Seafood Set - starting our seafood extravaganza would be the terrible plating of grilled squid and six prawns! Latter was more misses; most of the prawns weren't as fresh (mushy)! The squid was much better; not rubbery, just overly seasoned with salt.
They missed out on the scallops and I had to remind of the missing dish! Grilled with cheese, these were surprisingly fresh and sweet and having the cheese was a great touch.
Now, our two lobsters!
Alex had a huge anticipation for them.
This time round, we were conservative with two smaller lobsters instead of a much bigger one. As mentioned in earlier paragraphs, we went with cheese sauce, and garlic butter sauce.
Loving the chunkiness of the lobster meat; so endearing for the brain! Sadly, the love diminished as the meat went into my mouth and met my taste buds. Garlic butter was bland; cheese was better although not spectacular as the first time. My major disappointment was with the taste; there was none of the seafood sweetness and I needed chilli to hype up the flavour!
=====
We still finished everything. Our verdict was: we should have gone with the eatery we patronized before. Having said that, it could really be a hit and miss, and heavily dependent on your luck!
