Sweet Cheeks Gelato near Potong Pasir MRT Station [Singapore]

Having gelato / ice cream for dessert has become a norm for me nowadays whenever I meet up with friends for meals. It's like automatic - after meals, search on google map for desserts.

That's how the Great Kon and us came to Sweet Cheeks Gelato near Pasir Ris MRT station, all the way from Toa Payoh! There were gelato shops that were nearer in distance although convenience wise; Sweet Cheeks Gelato was just a few steps away from the bus stop we alighted. 

We were thankful to secure seats before the shop started getting busy! Whatever the case, here came the more difficult question; what should we have?

With sixteen flavours to choose from, we were again spoilt for choices! Lychee with raspberry bits seemed unique whereas banana walnut brownie sounded interesting. How about the marshmallow oreo? Or biscoff cookie crunch?! 

Promotion for honeycomb at S$2.00 a scoop! 

That's half priced and an irresistible deal. 

Our order of waffle with two scoops of ice cream plus an additional two scoops of honeycomb in cups! I remember there is a limit to the honeycomb promotion; I think a maximum of two or four scoops. 

Gelato flavors on waffle were Lychee with Raspberry Bits and Hazelnut with Nutella Swirls. Honestly, it's easier to make a decision if sampling was allowed. 

Lychee with Raspberry Bits filled my mouth with the soothing aroma of lychee and I love the contrast from the sour of raspberry! Hazelnut with Nutella Swirls didn't wow; more a chocolate ice cream with hardly noticeable nutella. Kon put it succinctly; cheap chocolate ice cream that was comfort food back when we were kids.

Waffle - while this featured the essential outer crisp and tasted pretty good, my preference has always been a batter that was both airy and fluffy; which this waffle lacked. To put it in perspective, the Kon loves it!

Didn't take a close-up picture of the Honeycomb. Compared to the two other gelato flavors I had earlier, I liked this better simply because of the crunchy honeycomb bits! Not overly sweet, this was milky with the flavor of supermarket honey.
