Shortly after the first show we attended at Royal Caribbean's Quantum of the Seas on day one of our cruise, it's time for us to line up again for the second show which would take place at Royal Theatre!
Frankly, I know it's quite crazy to have two shows almost back to back but being amateurs to cruises, we seriously have no idea how to spend our evening and since there were available slots; might as well just pencil in a reservation.
Royal Theatre had an old school, traditional vibe compared to Two70 but with a seating capacity for 1,299 people (before safe distancing measures were in place); it should the largest venue on board to entertain a significant percentage of passengers.
Wah, the audio visual controls and lighting board looked so cool. As my work involves the management of facilities, such stuff draws me although there's limitations on what my work can do given the priority and budgetary considerations.
Starting the show with a main singer levitating on stage; helped no less by the hardy wires. After the "Violinist Nadiia Voronkova, featuring the Cast of Starwater", I was hoping this second show wouldn't have a slow start as it will definitely lull me to sleep.
My fear was unfounded. Sequins & Feathers is best described as a cabaret style performance, with high charged dances, great singing and eye-catching (some will say it's more eye popping) attire full of pomp and fluff.
Incredibly entertaining, visually appealing and made me missed karaoke like mad, even though I am more a mandopop person and seldom sing to English tunes.
Every set was beautiful designed and the choreography brought out the "fun" element of the show. One particular set that stood out was the one when each singer had a mirror behind them.
Another was the use of stopped motion projection images to match the rhythm of the dance. It's just one person dancing but felt like so much more!
