T-Hall.sg - Indoor Rock Climbing (Fun Zone) in Singapore

You know how procrastinated some humans are? Well, the pictures appended below were taken more than six months as part of a birthday treat for my dearest niece to T-Hall.sg; an indoor rock climbing gym in our little red dot.

Knowing Jovyn can be a scaredy cat, I asked repeatedly if she was indeed keen since I didn't like to waste my money! Her response was a positive yes every time, even on the day of our visit. Hence, let's sign the waiver and change to a pair of climbing shoes.

A handsome boy putting on the harness for her.
She was shy alright; kids grow so fast!

The boy also patiently explained how the carabiner works with the auto belay and the things to look out for before the climb. Quite straightforward but uncle here wasn't concentrating much as my role was just a non-paying, non-climbing companion.

Blue tag - climber
Red tag - non-climber

Safety check for before and after the climb. Back then in June 2022, mask was required to be worn at all times although for strenuous activities like climbing, you can remove when you are climbing but must put back on when you are resting. Now, it's just mask-on is encouraged.

Let's now go through the steps in real-time.
Saw the mats at the base of each thematic walls?

There would be a carabiner there; hook it to the belay loop on your harness.
And do remember to lock it so that it wouldn't slip out.

Remove the other carabiner from the mat.

Mat would fall onto the ground with a noticeable message for everyone to keep clear. It also acted as a soft padding although it wouldn't help much if you fall from help. Nonetheless, the auto belay is supposed to let you descend slowly.

Before climbing, however, ensure the webbing is straight and not twisted.
If it is twisted, just untwist it.

Short training in progress.

Time to have fun! I thought Jovyn would expend her energy for one hour or so but she gave up far too easily! After climbing up for less than two meters, she would say too difficult, too tiring and proceed to descend!

I reacted with indignation; that's absolutely not how I spend my money and I think it's not good practice to not try harder, especially when it's non academic in nature and uncle me is paying for it!

Okay, maybe climbing is harder as you need to use make use of your upper body to navigate the points and the strength from the lower body to push yourself up. Hence, I encouraged Jovyn to try the "Leap of Faith" since it's literally just "walking".

Glad to see her trying upon my encouragement.

7th pole later; she decided it was too high and couldn't venture further. It's okay; let's take things one step at a time. Trying is better than not even giving it a go.

Giving it another go! And she reached all the way to the 12th pole!
How many meters high? maybe 4 meters high?

Now, I am so proud of her to have overcome the leap of faith!
Even the staff members were cheering for her!

Aside from the towering thematic walls, there was another section at the back.

One part of it would be the bouldering wall; suitable for younger kids who are afraid of height. This has absolutely no kick for me although I kind of regretted not signing up for as paying, climbing companion.

Next to the bouldering wall, you can find another interesting wall that had a projection on it! It's an interactive, augmented wall with various games and challenges.

It was fun and would be better if you have other friends either helping with the challenges or competing with each other! In this particular game, it's literally the bat version of Whac-A-Mole.

Definitely can work out a sweat!

Games that you can choose from the touch screen. And you can even check out the video recording of you playing the game; it was funny as the relentless aim to complete the game can result in some un-glam moments.

More photos because I took too many.

How many tall walls were there in the hall?
I counted so many and each one has their own difficulties.

Some were standalone like the Rubik's Cube and Crates.
Very instagrammable but hard to take pictures with such height.

Others had one design for each side. Again, with vibrantly colored designs that might seem more suitable for kids although I think adults can also have a fun time.

Selected angular ones.

This kind would benefit as a competition between friends!
One such wall even had a buzzer on top to see who is faster.

Interested to have a gathering between friends? There's a function room for birthday parties even though I do feel that its expected clientele would likely be students from primary school / kindergarten!

Unique walls included this one with UV lights.
You may feel a bit claustrophobic though.

Another one would use a lot of strength from the legs!
Reminded me of a Jackie Chan movie.

This one so difficult!

Jovyn deciding to give the walls a go again. Again, she attempted just about two meters before letting go. Oh well, she did try and I am happy for that.

Removal of the harness! I did ask her just now (she is now in my house) if she would want to for another climbing session. Her reply was affirmative; a firm no. Guess I would have to "jio" some friends to go with me.
