Makan Time @ Aglio Olio Bistro (8 Shenton Way)

With a tagline "Singapore's Version of Pasta", i would expect a lot of innovative, fusion dishes that heavily utilise pasta. Imaginary examples include chilli crab spaghetti, pasta in laksa or even dried shrimps paste spaghetti (i tried this in F.I.S.H before).

With the exception of Teriyaki Chicken Chop that sounds more Asian, all the other dishes seem pretty standard as far as their names go. There's a catch though. The level of spiciness is dictated by you; mild, normal, spicy and extra spicy!

But we all know Singapore has more than just spiciness in her sleeve! I am Singaporean and i am not exactly the great chilli lovers some of my friends are (and most of them are not even Singaporeans).

Having said that, this restaurant is super cramped in order to take in more customers and it was quite crowded during the official lunch break in Singapore's Central Business District (CBD); helped no less by the numerous media articles pasted on the glass windows.

Teriyaki Chicken Chop
My order since i had pasta less than a week ago at The Box Bistro.

Served with fresh vegetables and crinkle fries, the first cut that immediately separated the meat was a testament of the meat's tenderness... either that or the knife was a damn sharp one!

Long accustomed to sweet teriyaki sauce, this one here was quite light with a nice balance of sweetness and saltiness. Despite having a penchant for sweet stuff, i do enjoy the teriyaki chicken chop.

Bloody hot chilli!!!!

Seafood Aglio Olio Pasta
No complaint on the seafood.

However, the pasta was too dry and although Joyce asked for normal spiciness, i personally found the chilli level to be way beyond my hot limit! Take a look at those killer chilli padi hiding in the pasta!!

Should i be ashamed of myself as a Singaporean just because i don't take chilli?

NO WAY!
