Beancurd (豆花) @ Selegie Soya Bean (实里基豆花)

Let's blog on something that's slightly healthier without all the oil and meat!!

The three balls are not fish balls!!
Dou Hua, or Beancurd, is really healthy if you eliminate all the sugary syrup but of course, moderation is always the key.

I have heard of rumours that an overdose on soy products can actually be harmful; not sure if it's urban myth or not.

It's not difficult to find stalls selling dou hua; in fact, you can find them in hawker stalls that sell soya bean drink and in shopping centres under companies like Mr Bean, Jollibean, Pingle etc.

In addition, specialised shops like Selegie Soya Bean have also gained foothold by expanding all around Singapore, in this case, Jalan Kayu!

This dou hua from Selegie in Jalan Kayu was silky enough with a fragrant sugary syrup; it was at most slightly above average and not the best i had!

Hot beancurd is really a stomach filler for dieters (new word: people on diet) like me!

Did i mention i love glutinous balls with fillings?? The peanut ones i had in Selegie (Jalan Kayu) were disappointing and lacked the fragrant bits that would normally be mashed and semi-fluid when you bite them!

=====

Location
247, Jalan Kayu

Price
$2.00 for one bowl with three glutinous balls (peanut). Plain beancurd is available too!

Additional Information
With these few "longs", i presume dim sum is also served in the earlier part of the day (i was there at 7.30pm)? If you know, let me know!

Parking is available at a public carpark further down, nearing the expressway.

 Very few parking lots are available outside the shop and it's a challenge to do so on a two lane (to and fro) road with buses.
