I am getting bored jogging around my estate and since it's Saturday, i figured it's time for a new destination and the place i had in mind was said to be great to catch the sunset too!
Hence, i proceeded to start at about 5.45 pm and here's Sembawang Road (outside Dieppe Barracks); a road that i used to travel so often when i used to have my beloved Toyota Vios.
Sembawang Golf Course - despite living so near, i have only ventured in once and that's before i scrapped my car as i guess it would be a long walk in to the main clubhouse.
Jogging around the perimeter of the golf course; flowers were blossoming and i can see patches of yellow flowers on the pedestrian path. It was only when i was on the path that this frightening thought came in; "what if there are snakes!".
Quite a number of fences are missing the barbed wires.

On the right is Seletar Expressway and the road i am now is Mandai Avenue. The latter is a relatively new one built when i was in my early teens and it connects to the Asia's most famous Singapore Zoo!
In the past, you can only get to Singapore Zoo via this road if you are coming from Yishun, Ang Mo Kio etc; the old Mandai Road. As you can see, it's narrow with just two lanes; one for each direction.
Upper Seletar Reservoir - i have blogged about it a few times here, there and this since it's near my house and i frequently drove there to relax. It borders the Singapore Zoo, Night Safari and River Safari and was rumoured to have crocodiles when i was a child.

Reaching the iconic gate of Upper Seletar Reservoir. Things haven't changed that much since i was a kid and that's rare for Singapore where constant upgrade and development seem to be the norm.

The imposing rocket tower that used to be my playground as a kid! If you want to see some old photographs, you can check out this post here. This is where i ended my jog; a distance of about 6.2 kilometers.
A paint job is necessary as the tower appeared so lifeless and dull in the photos!
Pity, entry to climb the rocket tower was restricted due to the COVID-19 pandemic for which Singapore is increasingly getting affected with the infection number reaching almost a thousand today!
Well, the pandemic didn't stop many Singapore residents from coming out to exercise; like me! I think it's a dilemma for us; on one hand, we know we shouldn't be out but on the other hand, exercising builds immunity! Furthermore, the government is okay with exercising so long we don't congregate in groups and limit to only family members living in the same residence.
Just remember to wear a mask; those doing strenuous exercises like jogging are exempted from masking up but i held on to one reusable mask and donned it after my jog. It's a sensitive period.
So sad i couldn't go up the rocket tower to capture the sunset.
It's okay; there's always another time and i did promise to bring a friend there to have a photo expedition. In the meantime, please stay safe and healthy!
